GREEN PATROLS EVS Project

Summary :

The project themes are "Environment" and "Education through sport and outdoor activities”. The project topics were chosen jointly by all the promoters. In fact, young people who will be involved in voluntary service wanted to participate in such a project which aims to promote environmental activities and open air activities. Our project offers this opportunity to young people because the project activities take place in the natural environment, in Cozia National Park. The activities of voluntary service will reflect the themes of the project. Thus, the participants will perform during the 12 months of service specific activities to protect the environment and environmental education.

Duration of EVS activity : 25/08/2011-25/08/2012.

Participants :
 volunteers between 18-30 years old.

Profile of the volunteer :

 Average knowledge of English, French or Spanish.
 Adaptability to a multicultural working environment.
 Desire for involvement in youth activities.
 Experience on environmental protection.
 Capacity to work in the natural environment.
 Age between 18-30 years old.

Selection of the volunteers :
  made by sending organisation together with host organisation.
 CV in European format of each volunteer.
 Letter of motivation of the volunteer.
 Interview with the volunteer.

The specific results of this project will be :

 Establishing a volunteer center in Vâlcea County.
 Promoting Cozia National Park at international level.
 Making a film about the Cozia Park.
 Making web page of the project that will promote the volunteering service.
 Promoting environmental education in schools around the Cozia Park.

The anticipated impact of the project on volunteers will be the following :

 Will learn basic knowledge of environmental protection.
 Will seize the importance of environmental education among the youth.
 Will learn to be actively involved in decision making at community level.
 Will improve their ability to make decisions in terms of local community.
 They will know the importance of European citizenship and youth programs.
 They will learn organizational competences in the youth field.
 Will learn to realize environmental projects for young people.
 Will learn to make materials for ensuring the visibility of the project.
 Will learn basic skills in IT, blog and webpage management.

The project will have 4 mentors

The specific roles of the mentors are :
 To provide personal support to volunteers.
 To guide the volunteers in all activities.
 To ensure the integration of volunteers in the local community.
 To participate in the assessment of volunteers.
 To provide specialized assistance to volunteers. Mentors will provide personal, linguistic and administrative support to volunteers during the entire period of activity.
